We feel lucky to have met through mutual friends in our small beach hometown of Ventura, California. Despite seeing each other regularly, we were never given the opportunity to get to know each other as more than just acquaintances or casual friends. Timing played a beautiful part on October 13, 2013 when we both found ourselves at the same place, at the same time and enjoying a late Sunday afternoon out on the town with friends. Only this time we were both single. After spending the afternoon together and getting to know one another a little better there was a undeniable chemistry, and like old friends reconnecting for the first time in awhile- we hit it off quick. We spent the evening playing pool together, walked to dinner at a local Cantina with friends, and even ended up at a fun local karaoke bar- all of which are still some of our favorite things to do this day. Needless to say, we had a really fun afternoon. Two days later, we enjoyed a romantic dinner at Lucky's in Montecito and happily- here we are today.
It was New Years Eve weekend, and we decided to take a spontaneous snowboarding trip to Big Bear. We were excited to ring in the New Year during our first trip to the snow together. On our first day of boarding, we decided to take a quick break at the top of the mountain and sat down in the snow during one of our runs. It had to have been one of the most breathtaking views from the mountain. After a moment of awe, Tony turned to me and told me he had 'something' to talk to me about, but before he said anything more, he quickly stood up on his board, turned around with big smile on his face and began riding down the mountain in full speed. In utter confustion, I slowly followed and made my way back down. As I was almost reaching the bottom, I could see far in the distance what looked to be Tony waiting for me at the bottom. Only now he was standing off of his board with his hands behind his back. And in that moment I knew... I knew all too well what was coming, and so did my knees, as I began to fall on every snow covered surface of that mountain. It was comedy! So after a few pit stops (more like falls), I finally unstrapped from my board and made my way to Tony as he proceeded to get down on one knee. He then asked that one very important question. The answer was of course, YES!
